July 2025 North Carolina Bar Examination - Application Now Available


The electronic application for the July 2025 North Carolina bar examination is now available.  Information and Registration Instructions are available on the home page of the Board's website, www.ncble.org.

 



New Reciprocal Jurisdiction with North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA BAR EXAM RESULTS – JULY 2024 EXAM

To view a list of applicants successful on the the July 2024 North Carolina Bar Examination who have met all requirements for licensure as of the most recent update, please click HERE. Requirements include, but are not limited to: passing the North Carolina Bar Examination and passing the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE).

Note: There are a number of people who were successful on the July 2024 North Carolina Bar Examination but have not yet taken or passed the MPRE. These people are not on this list.



NCBLE Offices Closed to Public July 29, 2024-August 2, 2024 for July 2024 NC Bar Exam


The North Carolina Board of Law Examiners' office will be closed to the public from Monday, July 29, 2024 through Friday, August 2, 2024 for the administration of the July 2024 North Carolina Bar Examination.  The office will reopen at 8:30 AM on Monday, August 5, 2024. 

NCBLE Offices Closed May 27, 2024 for Memorial Day


The office of the North Carolina Board of Law Examiners will be closed on Monday, May 27, 2024 for Memorial Day.  The office will reopen on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 8:30 a.m.

NCBLE Offices Closed to Public on February 26, 2024 to Prepare for Administration of February 2024 NC Bar Examination


The offices of the North Carolina Board of Law Examiners will be closed to the public on February 26, 2024 to prepare for the administration of the February 2024 North Carolina Bar Examination.  The offices will reopen on February 27, 2024.

July 2023 NC Bar Exam Results Posted to Applicant Portals


The North Carolina Board of Law Examiners is pleased to announce that results of the July 2023 North Carolina Bar Examination are have been posted to Applicant secure portal accounts.  785 applicants completed the examination.  The overall pass rate for the examination was 69%.

Change to Rules Governing Admission to the Practice Law in North Carolina


PLEASE NOTE: Rules .0501 and .0504 of the Rules Governing Admission to the Practice of Law in North Carolina have been amended, eliminating the North Carolina State-Specific Component as a requirement for licensure for General Applicants and UBE Transfer Applicants.  The amended rules apply to General Applications, Supplemental Applications, and UBE Transfer Applications pending as of November 2, 2022, and those filed on or after that date.



July 2022 NC Bar Exam Results Posted to Applicant Portals


Results for the July 2022 North Carolina bar examination have been posted today to applicant secure portal accounts.   Applicants may view their results by clicking on 'Exam Results Letter' in the upper right-hand corner of the home page of their portal.

 



Beginning with February 2023 NC Bar Exam - Applicants Not Permitted To Handwrite MEE/MPT


Beginning with February 2023 NC Bar Exam - Applicants Not Permitted to Handwrite MEE/MPT

Beginning with the February 2023 North Carolina Bar Examination, applicants will not be permitted to handwrite the Multistate Essay Examination (MEE) and Multistate Performance Test (MPT) components of the North Carolina Bar Examination.  Unless granted a testing accommodation due to a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act, applicants must take these portions of the examination on personal laptop computers using software designated by the Board.

Update Regarding July 2021 NC Bar Exam Passing Score and Expected Date for Release of Applicant Results


The North Carolina Board of Law Examiners has posted an update announcement regarding the passing score for the July 2021 North Carolina Bar Examination and the anticipated exam results release date.  To view the announcement, please click HERE.

Declarations Permitted In Lieu of Notarized Signatures Until December 31, 2021


In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the North Carolina Board of Law Examiners will permit applicants to submit documents using a signed declaration in lieu of a notarized signature until December 31, 2021.  To view an example of an acceptable Declaration, CLICK HERE.

Submission of Fingerprint Cards


When you complete your official fingerprint cards, please be sure to submit these fingerprint cards DIRECTLY to the North Carolina Board of Law Examiners.

 

Please DO NOT submit your fingerprint cards to the State Bureau of Investigation.

 

Please be advised that if your fingerprint cards are submitted directly to the State Bureau of Investigation, by you or by a law enforcement agency, the Department of Public Safety/State Bureau of Investigation will charge a fee of $38.00. You will be required to remit $38.00 to the North Carolina Board of Law Examiners for this fee.
